Attempts to defraud in buying or selling vehicles through the internet are a quiet common thing meanwhile. No matter where
you offer your vehicle in the net. Webboards are loaded with people writing about being defrauded and even in TV you can see
reports about defraud methods in the internet.
If heared from three cases where people who offer their Bikes here at Shovel-HEad.com got tried to be tricked during the last months. The method was all the same in every case... A guy who´s pretending to be from England [ might be Greece or whereever ] sends an email and tells you that he would like to buy your bike cause this is the one kind he´s searching for in a long while. After bargaining for a while through various emails you get an agreement about the price. In other cases the guy´s starting to push the sellers by telling them that he´ll go on and search for something else if they wouldn´t find together about the price. - Anyhow, he offers to handle the payment by check. The check will be signed over the price for the bike PLUS the shipping costs over to him. He will order a shipper to pick up the bike at your door and you should pay the shipper in cash. What happens next? - The check arrives by post, the bike is being picked up by the shipper, you pay the shipper and three weeks later you get a message from your bank that the check was bad. - The bike and the money you payed cash to the shipper are long gone. There is a various number of tricks out there to rip you of your bike and/or money! MAKE SURE: - NO CHECKS! JUST CASH!! - be extra carefull while dealing with persons in foreign contries [ here England ] - don´t let someone push you to sell your bike - EVEN you need the money hardly! |
